HAOA Special Meeting Approves Amendment to Covenants

A Special Meeting of the Huisache Acres Owners’ Association was held on Tuesday night, April 30, 2024. The purpose of the Special Meeting, announced to members via email on March 29, 2024, was asking Members to approve amendments to the Fifth Amended and Restated Protective Covenants of the Huisache Acres subdivision. Members were asked to vote FOR or AGAINST the amendment via Proxy, absentee ballot, or in person at the meeting.
The results of the meeting: A quorum was declared, as 46 members were represented by their votes, exceeding the 33-member majority threshold. The final tally was 41 votes FOR the amendment and 5 votes AGAINST. Thus the Amendment was approved as it exceeded the 33-member majority required for passage. Many thanks to all who participated.
The next steps include the legal filing of the Amendment with Harris County and the State, then beginning discussions with the Neighborhood Police Patrol regarding annual costs and their services to be provided. I am hopeful their service can begin on or before June 1, 2024. More information will be forthcoming.
For the past decade, the HAOA invoiced members via email for dues in early July. Turns out that the fiscal year of the HAOA begins on June 1 and ends May 30. As a result, we will start invoicing annual dues starting in June of this year at the newly approved rate of $750 per member. Invoices are due on receipt, and if not paid in 60 days, then legal collection efforts will commence. We’ve been fortunate that the vast majority of members are prompt payers, and we trust that trend will continue.
An updated HAOA Member Directory will be mailed to each member next week.
